AFTER taking the world by storm with their mobile phones, cars and most recently K-Pop music, the South-Korean invasion continues in Malaysia through the introduction of KyoChon, Korea’s number one fried chicken brand.
Opening its doors for the very first time to consumers on Jan 10 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, the fourth largest shopping mall in the world (according to CNN) , KyoChon seems set to become a favourite among local lovers of fried chicken and its variations.
First founded 23 years ago by Won-Kang Kwon in 1991, KyoChon is a familiar brand name among Koreans – known primarily for their delicious crispy chicken. What began as a humble business in the small town of Gumi, South Korea, is now a global success, and KyoChon has come to be associated with commitment to delivering quality products through innovation and constantly pushing the boundaries.
Stressing the fact that KyoChon is anything but fast food, the renowned award-winning brand from Korea promises to deliver food made only from healthy chickens using natural ingredients. As a pioneer in their field, KyoChon began double-frying their chicken in a scientific and calculated manner to ensure that it meets a certain quality.
The first round of frying cooks the flesh evenly to retain moist juices whilst removing excess oil. It is then deep-fried again to get that perfect crunch and eventually glazed with special sauces from Korea. As the cooking involves a process where excess oil is removed, these frying techniques set Kyochon apart from other fast food and fried chicken restaurants.
Currently found in other countries with more than 1000 outlets all over Indonesia, Thailand, China and even the USA, KyoChon has been bestowed “Brand of The Year’ for 11 years in a row since 2003 by the Korean Consumer Forum.
Patrons of KyoChon can indulge in six different flavours, including Honey, Original, and Red which are the common favourites.
KyoChon is currently located in Malaysia at LG-311 in the New Wing of 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
